D25 2004
Santa's Sailing Sled
D25’s debut design was
inspired by the idea of Santa’s sailing sled being
borrowed by a mischievous elf. Santa’s sled has all the
features you’d expect: candy cane mast & boom &
tiller, red running rails, large red velvet bag of toys
& lifejackets for emergencies, a flashing red beacon
at the masthead to light the way, and a mainsail of
colorful lights. Santa’s sled is part of the one design
class ‘D25’ which stands for December 25th. The design
was built at low tide by beaching D25 and stringing
lights on the mast & gaff rigged sail from the pier
and a ladder as needed. This design only used one Honda
Eu2000i generator and was maxed out at 2KW 120VAC of
power. Many of the signature items were debuted in 2004
including: the masthead strobe, an AOOGHA horn, D25 , my
parade entry number 25.
